“Hatred is never ended by hatred, but with love.” – Buddha
It’s always been my belief that holding onto hatred, anger and grudges will only bring you down, not the person or thing to which you harbor these feelings. If you fill your life with positive thoughts, love and things that make you happy, your life will be just that. I strive to do this everyday, and often times it’s hard. There will always be things that bring you down, anger you or make you sad, but you just have to learn from them and find the lesson in everything and allow yourself to be happy that you are here and you are healthy. I beseech you to all do the same. Have love in your heart and love for the world and you will always be a happy person, because the world loves you.
Living life is a tight wire act where you’re given no parasol to balance yourself. Influences can come at you from all sides pulling you to make right or wrong decisions. But sometimes it’s so hard to know what the right thing is and what you want to do. Paths often stretch out in front of you like limbs from a tree trunk. You don’t know what you what to be when you grow up, because you are continually growing up. You are exploring, creating, thinking, reinventing yourself. And maybe we don’t know what to do with life, but the journey can be wonderful, if you make it out to be.
“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.”
Life is no walk in the park. It is a battle that leaves scars and bruises and sometimes it shatters you into pieces. It takes strength to pull all your pieces together and move on. And in that act, is where the strongest people are found. Because you don’t know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.
“Life isn’t about finding yourself…life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw
Many times in my life I have heard people say, mostly to others, how can you know yourself? You need to search for who you are. Don’t do that, don’t take that risk, don’t love that person until you have found Yourself, til you do whatever is necessary to come to a place of “knowing”. I have never personally believed that one can “find” themselves, in truth life is about learning, growing, changing and adapting. No one stays the same forever, not if they seek knowledge. Not if they experience new things. We create who we are through our lives, loves, journeys and the choices we make. And that to me, is one of the reasons life is so beautiful.
“When you can’t decide what to make for dinner…order.”-Turner
Collins has informed me that these are words to live by. I agree. Don’t you?
“Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?”
– God in ” Evan Almighty”
Though I myself am not a religious person, nor I believe in “God”, this quote still resonates with me. I always feel as if the universe gives us circumstances and situations for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. It does not make sense for the universe to just give me courage, but the universe sure as hell will put me into a situation where I can choose to be courageous. In this way, we can learn to grow through our own thoughts and experiences. Going through these situations make us stronger and better prepared for next time.
The same goes with anything. If someone just hands something to you, and you didn’t have to work for it, you will not cherish it nearly as much as if you had toiled to achieve it. Keep in mind that anything worth anything, will require a great amount of work.
Sometimes I hear lyrics that make me think. They don’t need an explanation, they just do. That’s how I sometimes feel about this lyric.
Maybe you’re right, maybe this is all that I can be
But what if it’s you, and it wasn’t me?
What do you want from me?
“Every day may not be good…
but there’s something good in every day”
― Alice Morse Earle
We should realize that every day is a gift and that positivity is key. Just because you’re having a bad day, and everything is going wrong, doesn’t mean the universe refuses to sprinkle bits of positivity into unlikely places. Imagine you are late for work because your car got a flat tire, then when you finally get to work someone trips and spills their coffee all over your desk. These things would suck, but if you looked back on your day with a closer eye, you’d remember that the tow truck driver was extremely nice and went above and beyond and that while cleaning the coffee off your desk you got to talking with the co-worker that spilled it and find out you have a lot in common. There is always a balance and a day can not be all bad, it just doesn’t work that way. We always find it easy to accept the bad because these things happen so often, but we are lazy creatures so we seldom search through our day to find the good.
“One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood.”
-Lucius Annaeus Seneca
I don’t even know where to begin with this quote. It is so unbelievably true. We spend out whole lives trying to be understood by others, but seldom do they really understand. This is what makes it so much more exciting to be talking with someone and then they say something that makes you pause for a moment and think “They really get me!” Now that kind of moment is rare and should be treasured. When you share this understanding bond with someone, amazing things can come out of it. You can talk freely about anything without fear of judgement or offense. So when you find someone who understands you completely and you completely understand them in return, keep them close, because you’ve just met someone who is one in a million.
